A live brief was launched from Dobert Textile group to create a collection of both Spring/Summer 17 Samples and Autumn/ Winter 17 Samples. A requirement of the brief was to make two separate warps each. This was a group project where a new trend was chosen for inspiration from the WGSN website. A group decision was made to choose 'Human- nature.' An individual approach was necessary for this project and Lottie chose to look at the photographs taken previously on a trip to Ireland, therefore the samples are inspired by the natural landscapes, colours and textures from a walking trip in Ireland.
Dobert Textiles Live Project
This project was set as a live brief and Lottie was fortunate enough to win second place where she gained a three month internship at the Dobert Textile headquarters in Barcelona. This was a valuable placement where Lottie was able to support the design team in a number of ways including creating mood boards and swatches, sampling new fabric designs, organising and labelling yarns, archiving fabrics from previous collections, packing sample orders to be sent to clients and a general insight into putting practical skills to use in the industry. Lottie gained a great understanding and insight into the businesses design and manufacturing process, and the worldwide market it supplies.
